Upcoming Tip-A-Cops

Our law enforcement partners are gearing up for another round of Tip-A-Cop fundraisers, where officers turn in their badges for aprons to serve the community in a different kind of way.

Last month, Tip-A-Cop events at Claim Jumper locations across Southern California raised more than $57,700. Here are a few upcoming Tip-A-Cop events and locations:

Dream House Deadline Approaching

Don’t miss your chance to enter Special Olympics Southern California’s eighth annual Dream House Raffle for an opportunity to win one of more than 2,000 great prizes. One entry could lead to a home in Palos Verdes, $3 million in cash, or various other prizes including travel packages and luxury automobiles. The deadline is May 26.

Summer (Games) is Coming

Make plans to attend Summer Games on June 10 and 11 at Cal State Long Beach. Witness more than 1,100 athletes display the courage to compete in six sports – athletics, basketball, bocce, golf, gymnastics and swimming.

“I would love for everyone to come cheer for all the athletes and witness the passion of sports,” said Heidi Sand, a San Diego Region athlete.

Welcome Aboard!

We are so excited to have a new LETR Regional Council Member in Captain Bernie Colon of the San Diego Police Department. Captain Colon has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of Special Olympics. In his first two months in office, he has already secured two new sponsorships and successfully led the SD Claim Jumper Tip-A-Cops. Welcome to the team, Bernie! We are so happy to have you!

A Trip to Remember

“Just an unbelievable experience [at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria] with all the cops and athletes together, who don’t know each other. It was an immediate bonding of fun. It was just a tremendous experience as a team. It was a very positive movement the whole time.”
-Lt. Bill Proll of the San Luis Obispo Police Dept., who ran with the Flame of Hope at the 2017 World Games
