More than 2,000 people joined Special Olympics Southern California for a family fun fiesta on the Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park on October 9, 2011.

Pier del Sol, Special Olympics largest fundraising event, featured gourmet food prepared by more than 35 of LA's top restaurants, rides, games, karaoke, arts and crafts, and a silent auction.

Global Motion, a World Dance Company at Santa Monica College, and El Mariachi Alas De Angel, a Mariachi band, provided music and entertainment throughout the day.

At this year's event, Special Olympics honored Rob Friedman, Co-Chair and CEO of Summit Entertainment (producers of movies such as the Twilight Saga and Hurt Locker). Rob has been a Special Olympics Southern California Board member for 16 years and has championed our cause at every turn.

All proceeds benefit the more than 10,000 athletes of Special Olympics Southern California. Participation in Special Olympics empowers our athletes to become physically fit, productive and respected members of the community.
