Own a $4M Sherman Oaks Estate for $150 OR TAKE $2 MILLION IN CASH--largest of its kind in SOSC Raffle history
1 in 50 CHANCE TO WIN A PRIZE: First ever chance to purchase multiple ticket discounts for cash prizes, luxury cars and dream vacations
LOS ANGELES (January 7, 2013) – Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) has launched its fourth annual Dream House Raffle, offering a $4 million home or cash payout of $2 million. Each ticket is $150 and are on sale now.
Built in 2008, the 7,500-square-foot Mediterranean-style custom home is located in Sherman Oaks, near the shops and restaurants of trendy Ventura Blvd. The beautifully appointed residence boasts six bedrooms, six and a half baths, a gourmet chef’s kitchen, plus a pool and spa with cascading waterfalls, eco-friendly landscaping, a four car garage, wine cellar and elevator. Inside and out, it is a showpiece of refined details and loaded with added "extras" only found in a home of this caliber.
The SOSC Dream House Raffle has been an exciting and widely successful fundraising campaign for the 40-year old organization, as each year the campaign grows. This year, the DHR has added thousands of dollars in luxury vacations, cars, electronics and cash prizes, thereby increasing the odds of winning to 1 in 50.
As a real-life example of the impact of the DHR, a portion of the proceeds from the 2012 DHR have enabled SOSC’s gold medal floor hockey team a trip of a lifetime to compete at Winter World Games in Korea. "The funds generated by the raffle assist us in offering world-level competition," said Bill Shumard, President and CEO of SOSC. "By providing them the opportunity to compete as world-class athletes, they realize their full potential, which is the core of SOSC."
Last year, the 2012 Special Olympics Dream House Raffle netted more than $800,000 for the organization. All net proceeds from the 2013 Dream House Raffle will benefit more than 12,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities in Southern California, impacting Special Olympics athletes from San Diego to greater Los Angeles county (LA, OC , Inland Empire) and as far north as Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo.
"The fundraising dollars will allow SOSC to grow the organization, offering more opportunities for our athletes and the thousands more who haven’t yet experienced what Special Olympics Southern California has to offer," said Shumard. "Our athletes deserve to be given the chances that everyone else in life are given. We truly are an organization that is training for life."
Moreover, funds raised ensure the continuation of life-changing programs offered at no cost to the athletes. From competition, training programs, and venue rentals to coaches, sporting equipment, transportation costs, or even meals at competitions, thousands of SOSC athletes will benefit from the campaign.
For the first time, the 2013 DHR is offering a discount for multi-ticket purchases of three or more, which will allow the bearer an entry in the multi-ticket drawing, awarding a Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Roadster or $50,000 cash. Multi-ticket packs are priced at (3) for $400 and (5) for $550.
Those who purchase tickets before the "early-bird" deadlines are eligible to win prizes leading up to the grand-prize drawing. From February to April, there will be a monthly drawing for additional cash prizes that range from $5,000 to $25,000 or a choice of a vacation or luxury vehicle. Additional prizes will be awarded during the grand prize drawing. The entry deadline for early-bird drawings is February 15, March 15, and April 12, 2012. There is also a "refer-a-friend" drawing, giving those who generate raffle ticket purchases through referrals a chance to win $15,000 or a smart car. The final raffle entry deadline is May 24, 2013. All contest rules and regulations, photos of the home, and a complete list of early-bird drawing dates and prize categories can be viewed online at www.socalraffle.com.
