LOS ANGELES (December 6, 2013) — Bigger than ever, Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) has launched its fifth annual Dream House Raffle, offering a $4.6 million Calabasas home or $3M cash. Tickets are $150 each, 3-packs for $400, or 5-packs for $550 and go on sale January 6, 2014.

Known as an oasis for Hollywood's elite, Calabasas is the epitome of luxury, dotted with horse stables, polo fields, vineyards, tennis courts and hiking trails. Among the highlights of the 9,000 square foot residence is an outdoor living paradise featuring 360-degree views, an infinity pool, wooded trails leading to a basketball and tennis court, and native landscaping throughout the property, including a private vineyard and Koi pond. Inside, the home is spacious, bright and airy, with a grand frescoed entrance, vaulted ceilings, gourmet kitchen and open floor plan. Multiple balconies, a guest house, housekeeper's quarters, and even a "man cave" complete the home's impressive list of features.

As the raffle enters into its fifth year, the fundraiser continues to grow in scope and size, adding thousands of dollars in luxury vacations, cars, electronics and cash prizes, keeping the odds of winning to 1 in 50.

"The funds generated by the raffle assist us in offering more than 100 competitions year round," said Bill Shumard, President and CEO of SOSC. "In fact, we are sending 55 athletes to New Jersey this upcoming June to represent Southern California for the USA Games. These opportunities are offered to our athletes at no cost thanks to fundraisers like this raffle." Shumard added that items such as athlete competitions, training programs, and venue rentals as well as sporting equipment, transportation costs, and even athlete meals at competitions, are the direct result of funds we raise through this raffle.

The 2013 Special Olympics Dream House Raffle netted more than $2M for the organization. All net proceeds from the 2014 Dream House Raffle will benefit the nearly 15,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities in Southern California, impacting Special Olympics athletes from San Diego to greater Los Angeles county and as far north as Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo.

In February and March, there will be two drawings for those who purchase tickets early, allowing for additional cash prizes ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 or a choice of a vacation or luxury vehicle. In addition, the Dream House Raffle will once again hold a multi-ticket drawing for those who purchase ticket packages, as well as a "Refer-a-Friend" drawing.
