“A Bid of Excitement” Auction to Benefit Special Olympics
Olympic Ice Skater Peter Carruthers to Emcee Event
Anaheim, Calif., May 15, 2008 -- Olympic silver medalist Peter Carruthers will emcee “A Bid of Excitement” Super Auction at the Anaheim Marriott on Saturday, May 31, starting at 5:30 p.m., to benefit Special Olympics Southern California – Southern Division. Carruthers, along with his sister, Kitty, won the silver medal for pairs skating at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.
“This is a charity auction you won't want to miss,” said Bill Shumard, President and CEO of Special Olympics Southern California. “There is a huge selection of auction items, and all proceeds from the event will help us continue to provide sports training and competition at no cost to our athletes and their families.”
The event, produced by The Gavel Group, provides the largest selection of auction items of any charity auction event in the United States, in addition to a sit-down gourmet dinner. Auction items include a Windstar Cruise; international and domestic travel; golf at courses such as Pelican Hill, Princeville and Oak Creek; artwork; and jewelry.
Special Olympics athlete and Fullerton resident Paul Hoffman is one of the featured speakers at the event. The night will conclude with a Super Live auction directed by Auctioneer and Founder and CEO of The Gavel Group, Larry Zucker. Following the silent auction, guests will enter the Grand Ballroom where they will enjoy dinner and entertainment from the premier Do-op group “The Alley Cats.”
Tickets are $125 each. For more information, contact Rhonda Remland at 714.564.8374, rremland@sosc.org.
