A Gift by Will, Trust or Insurance
One simple way to remember Special Olympics Southern California is to include us in your will. When you start thinking of charities that have made a difference in your life and the lives of your family, please remember us. Many of our supporters have left a bequest of a specific amount or a percentage of their estate. We encourage you to consult an attorney who specializes in estate planning to ensure your will best suits your needs and desires. For more information on giving to Special Olympics Southern California, please contact Monica McDade, mmcdade@sosc.org, 562.354.2613.
A Gift of Appreciated Securities
Publicly traded securities can be used to make an outright gift to Special Olympics or to make a gift through a bequest in a will or codicil. Donated securities can often result in significant tax advantages; however, we strongly advise you to first discuss the issues with a qualified tax accountant or attorney. If you would like to make a gift of stock to Special Olympics, please read the following instructions below:
1. If you possess the securities, send the unendorsed certificates by registered or express mail along with a letter of transmittal stating your name and address and any special instructions for the gift to:
Special Olympics Southern California
Attn: CFO
6730 E. Carson St.
Long Beach, CA 90808
2. In a separate envelope, mail, to the same address, stock power executed in blank for each certificate. Please include a copy of your transmittal letter.
If you have further questions regarding the transmittal of securities or if you are interested in attending an educational seminar on special needs estate planning, please contact Monica McDade, Assistant Vice President, Individual Philanthropy, at 562.354.2613, mmcdade@sosc.org.
