The following summary is an overview of Special Olympics Southern California's employee benefits. Please note that Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance benefits are available the first of the month following date of hire.
We provide four coverage options and pay 100% of the premium for employee only coverage for those who select the Blue Shield HMO Plan*. Flexible Spending Accounts
This plan allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for unreimbursed health care expenses up to $2,550 and child day care up to $5,000. Accounts are administered by TASC.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
If you should become disabled according to our policy, a portion of your income will be paid for the duration of the disability until normal retirement age. Special Olympics Southern California pays 100% of the premium for this coverage. The provider is Cigna.
All employees enrolled are provided an amount equal to one time their annual earnings for life and accidental death and dismemberment. Special Olympics Southern California pays 100% of the premium for this coverage. The provider is the Cigna.
Voluntary Life Insurance
Employees may select additional life insurance policies for themselves and/or their families via payroll deductions. The provider is Cigna.
Special Olympics Southern California offers employees 12 paid holidays per year:

Vacation accrual schedule:
- Year 0-3: Ten (10) days per year
- Years 4-8: Fifteen (15) days per year
- Years 9+: Twenty (20) days per year
Special Olympics Southern California offers 12 days per year, and up to six of those days may be used to care for an ill family member.
403b Retirement Savings Plan
The 403b Plan is administered by TIAA-CREF. Participation is open to eligible employees upon hire. Special Olympics Southern California provides a match after 12 months of service. We match 50% of the first 6% of employee contributions.
